A note on recursive multiple-priors
نویسنده
چکیده
One of the assumptions of recursive multiple-priors utility (Epstein and Schneider, J. Econ. Theory, 113(1) (2003), 1-31) is that conditional preferences at every node satisfy an intertemporal version of the multiple-priors axioms (Gilboa and Schmeidler, J. Math. Econ., 18(2) (1989) 141-153). This note weakens this assumption: Given that conditional preferences depend only on the continuations of acts and satisfy dynamic consistency and completeness, the recursive multiple-priors utility is derived if we assume the multiple-priors axioms for ex-ante preferences alone. Recursive multiple-priors
This paper axiomatizes an intertemporal version of multiple-priors utility. A central axiom is dynamic consistency, which leads to a recursive structure for utility, to ‘rectangular’ sets of priors and to prior-by-prior Bayesian updating as the updating rule for such sets of priors. It is argued that dynamic consistency is intuitive in a wide range of situations and that the model is consistent...
متن کاملIID: independently and indistinguishably distributed
The inability of the Bayesian model to accommodate Ellsberg-type behavior is well-known. This paper focuses on another limitation of the Bayesian model, specific to a dynamic setting, namely the inability to permit a distinction between experiments that are identical and those that are only indistinguishable. It is shown that such a distinction is afforded by recursive multiple-priors utility. ...
متن کاملBayesian Sample size Determination for Longitudinal Studies with Continuous Response using Marginal Models
Introduction Longitudinal study designs are common in a lot of scientific researches, especially in medical, social and economic sciences. The reason is that longitudinal studies allow researchers to measure changes of each individual over time and often have higher statistical power than cross-sectional studies. Choosing an appropriate sample size is a crucial step in a successful study. A st...

متن کاملAttitude toward information and learning under multiple priors
This paper studies learning under multiple priors by characterizing the decision maker’s attitude toward information. She is incredulous if she integrates new information with respect to only those measures that minimizes the likelihood of the new information and credulous if she uses the maximum likelihood procedure to update her priors. Both updating rules expose her to dynamic inconsistency....
